TIS Essential English Programme aims to equip students with the essential English language skills for International School success.
It is designed for students aged 10-13 years old (Year 5 to Year 8) to increase their confidence and proficiency in English by enhancing their skills in four key areas: speaking, reading, writing and listening. The programme is taught in a positive and inclusive learning environment, by dedicated teachers who are specially trained in teaching English as a Foreign Language.

A minimal level of English skills will be required to start this course. Students will undertake an assessment to determine their initial level of English literacy. Since the programme is linked to individual needs, the length of the course varies from student to student. Their progress will be monitored and regularly reviewed.
During the Programme, students will be working in intensive English classes while attending mainstream classes for PE, Art and Music (Year 5 - 6), or PE, Drama, Art, Music and CCA (Year 7 - 8), thereby integrating academically and socially into the school in preparation for transition to all mainstream classes.
