Puchong 26th August 2022- After a two year break due to the pandemic, Taylor’s International School (TIS) came back with their latest Performing Arts concert “Everlasting”. A first-time collaboration between the Puchong campus and Kuala Lumpur campus, the concert was held on 22nd and 23rd July 2022 which attracted an audience of over 800 people.
The concert was a great success with a total of RM 15,452 collected from ticket sales and a food bazaar, and this was donated to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Heavenly and Pusat Jagaan Mesra As-Salam. These homes will use this money to support the education of the children who will be sitting for their upcoming SPM examinations. According to Mr Peter Wells, Principal of Taylor’s International School, “It is important to recognize the difficulties that sections of our wider communities have had during the pandemic, and so we hope that this money will improve the lives of those in need.”
Mixing both traditional and modern renditions, the audience witnessed musical performances such as “Randai”, “24 Flower Drums”, “Loves Run Out” and “What’s Up”. The concert also included funny short sketches and a concert percussion ensemble. “We choose the theme “Everlasting” as performing arts are a form of everlasting art that allows people to connect,” says Ms. Rebecca Yap, Head of the Music Department of TIS Puchong.
“There was a huge pride in me seeing the students perform in such a natural way and I admire the incredible talents that our students have,” says Mr Wells. Staying true to the TIS core value of being ‘dedicated to the culture of excellence’, 135 students from both campuses gave outstanding performances, and in doing so were able to help others in need.
