As we have come to the end of the first term for 2021 it has been made very clear that face to face learning is not only more effective in ensuring that effective progress is made in a learner’s journey, but it has also shown us that there is so much more social and emotional development taking place in the relationships and the in class interactions that fundamentally ensure that the learning focus is more embedded in a learners thinking. Although the inconsistencies around whether face to face and online learning are still there, face to face learning continues to be the most effective means to ensure the learning is maximised.
The Secondary school SOPs still restrict specific activities like PE and assemblies from taking place, however we are encouraged that there are areas where the learning model currently in place in classrooms, although continually being aware of physical distancing is growing in its effectiveness as teachers and learners adapt to this process as being more normal that just a temporary alternative to the learning environment.
We have been able to participate in some online events over the past couple of weeks and its great to see our TISPC students still showing the talents and skills across many areas. Here is a short report from Ms Jemimah who oversees the debating group;
Over the weekend, our very own Kaanchana (Year 10) and Bede Lau (Year 9) represented TISPC in the Australasia Interschool Debating Championship 2021 as part of the Speech & Debate CCA. Competing against 107 participants from schools across Australasia, our team managed to get into the Novice Finals after 4 preliminary rounds. We recognise their effort and are so proud of their accomplishment.
We were also able to allow some of our Year 11’s participate in a specific conference for future business leaders and during this online conference run last weekend, they also participated in a competition and we are very proud to see the winners below;

Congratulations to all our Business students and debating champions, well done.
Finally as part of advance notice, please recognise that as face to face learning is now recognised as safe and appropriate for the learning environment, we will only be providing ‘Zoom’ (Online streaming) to students who are still unable to be in Malaysia or at parents request due to long term covid concerns.
I trust that everyone will remain safe and well during the next two weeks and we look forward to welcoming our learners back on Monday 26th April.
