Dear Parent,
It has been absolutely wonderful to have the students back in class and to see the wonderful learning that is going on. I have alluded to some of these in previous newsletters but also you can see it from the Primary’s and Secondary’s reports. Slowly, but surely confidence is increasing and with our robust SOP’s we have been able to trace a path of safety and wellbeing.
Just last Saturday we had the Graduation for the 2020 Year 11 students. This went very well and we had many positive and appreciative comments from parents who thanked us for the way we were still able to celebrate such an important event in our student's lives. I have to thank the Graduation Committee led by Miss Ruby who did such a sterling job.
So as Term 1 draws to an end please allow me to express my gratitude to you all and all in our community for all your enduring support. We as the community have shown resilience and persistence in the face of this pandemic and are continuing to do so with vim and vigour. There are signs that the COVID pandemic may be easing and the vaccine rollout certainly provides hope going forward though as a community we must remain vigilant and be ready to support each other during these unpredictable times.
We also in the Puchong community recognise too that there have been challenges for our parent community and you may have suffered from loss of jobs, reduction in business and with this a reduction of income. The Board has been there to assist those in financial need in several ways including:
· 10% discount to all families in Term 2 2020
· Freezing of school fees for 2021
· Taylor’s COVID Financial Assistance (TCFA) available for families of learners, in their exam years who may have suffered financially. This has allowed several learners to continue with their studies at Puchong at this crucial time.
· The option to pay fees by instalments and via credit cards has helped with cash flow issues for many families.
Therefore, I am very happy to announce that following the success of Taylor’s Covid Financial Aid (TCFA) programme to help parents with financial difficulties who have children in Years 10 and 11, the school is expanding this via Taylor’s Covid Bursary (TCB), which will be administered by the TCB Committee.
TCB will apply to children in any year group whose parents are experiencing financial difficulties due to the pandemic. Such parents are predominantly those who would have already been in contact with the school regarding instalments or require help with paying fees due to their circumstances and/or have indicated that they will need to withdraw from the school. If you feel that you fit this category and would like to know more, please contact the Principal's Office for more details of TCB.
These parents can reach out initially to me at
stefano.piumatti@pc.tis.edu.my for an initial discussion.
Following similar messages in the past few newsletters, I have decided to follow up with this
update as some of you have asked me a few questions regarding the Bring Your Own Device policy or BYOD.
I end this newsletter to once again say thank you to all in the Puchong community, parents, students and staff for your support and belief in us.
Stefano Piumatti
Principal of Taylor’s International School Puchong
