Welcome back to school in the Year of the Rat! It has been great seeing all the students back at school after their first cultural holiday of the year. I have enjoyed listening to stories of their adventures over the break and am impressed with how many parents turn a holiday period into a learning experience for our children.
I know that many of you were looking forward to our traditional Chinese New Year event on Friday but I am sure you all appreciate that safety must come first. The coronavirus is a concern many of you share with us so the school is taking all precautions possible to ensure the safety of the children - this includes postponing events which include many guests from outside the school community such as our planned CNY event. We will review the calendar and find another time for the children to experience the traditional Lion Dance performance and experience CNY culture.
The learning goes on in our school and we were really pleased to welcome Mr. Joshua into our school last week. Mr. Joshua is a neuroscientist and knows everything there is to know about the brain and how humans learn. We did a great learning session with Y4-6 in the Auditorium then he spent an hour and a half answering questions from our staff about how the learning processes in our school help to develop the children. We really appreciate Mr. Joshua's expertise and will look forward to welcoming him back to school again in the future.
