Welcome back to what truly promises to be an exciting last term at Taylor's International School, Puchong. The next couple of months will be filled with special events for our community. Personally, I am particularly looking forward to our International Day on the 27th of September and the Primary Musical performances that will take place on the first and second of November. If we take last year’s performances as the benchmark, we are truly in for an amazing treat again for both occasions!
In our first week back Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 & Year 5 held their IPC Entry Points. Year 1 kick-started their learning for their unit 'From A to B' which is all about transport. In Year 2, 'The Circus is Coming to Town’, in Year 3 they are on to the "Generation Game", in Year 4 they are 'Saving the World' & in Year 5 'Existing, Endangered & Extinct'. Entry Points are designed to trigger the student’s interest and to make them enthusiastic about the learning that lies ahead. It needs to have the 'WOW' factor; it needs to catch their attention fully! A good way to know whether this has been the case is to check whether or not the children have spoken about the Entry Point and/or the IPC topic at home after the event. I wonder if the children of these classes have told their parents about the Entry Point? Do let us know! Year 6 will have their entry point next week, their unit is called 'Price Progress' - watch this space!
This morning started with an assembly in which we celebrated Malaysia's National Day. There was a wide variety of performances to enjoy, there were dances, songs, a fashion-show and the Year 6 children made up their own games to play with the children and the teachers. Especially the tongue twister game for the teachers delivered some hilarious moments! As usual, our primary community celebrated an important event in great style. A word of thank you to all the parents that freed up their time to join us, a word of thank you to the organising committee of the event and a big round of applause to all the performers including Rimau our Malaysian Tiger.
