Welcome back to Term 3. I hope you managed to get some rest during the school break. We are back with our focus more than ever on the work ahead of us. This will no doubt be a busy and varied term in all areas once again. On Friday, of course, it is an auspicious day for us when we celebrate Merdeka Day and celebrate unity and diversity and express our love and gratitude for Malaysia. I am looking forward to this event as I have heard so much about it.
In Secondary May/June IGCSE results came out. We obtained over 90% A*s and A's in both Bahasa and Mandarin and 100% A-C pass rate. My hearty congratulations go to all the students – well done, and to the Bahasa and Mandarin departments.
I would also like to warmly welcome the over 50 new students and parents who have joined us this week. I am confident that you will have a wonderful journey at TIS Puchong and I look forward to getting to know you.
Lastly, a reminder from last week's email in case you didn't get a chance to see it. I am going to restart the parent coffee mornings and the Parent – Teacher & Friends Association (PTF) as well. The first coffee morning will be on Thursday 12th September and I would like to invite Year 2 parents to start off with and on Thursday 26th September at 8 am will be the first meeting of the PTF to elect members.
I would also like to take this opportunity to re-emphasise some important points with regards to the security at school. We take this of paramount importance to ensure the safety of your sons and daughters. The school would be very appreciative if as much as possible the following could be adhered to.
1) Please bring your tag and wear it in school at all times. It is part of a very important procedure to ensure safety for our children. If you forget your tag, please have some form of other identification available.
2) It is the guard's duty to check this in order to protect all our children. Your cooperation is vital and much appreciated for the safety of our children.
3)Closure of school. It is important to note for the security and safety of all our students that:-
By 3.30 pm Mondays to Thursdays - all classes have finished (Primary and Secondary) By 4.30 pm Mondays to Thursdays - Library closes By 5 pm Mondays to Thursdays - ECAs finish normally by this time By 2.30 pm Fridays – classes and school closes
As such, I would appreciate it very much if you could kindly arrange for your child/children to be picked up by or very close to the above-mentioned hours where possible.
I would also like to take this opportunity to inform that in the interests of the children's security and safety, the gate to the basement will be closed and locked from 5 pm and this will take effect from the start of the third term. After 5 pm, you can park your car at the front of the school.
As always please do come and see me regarding this or any other issues that you may have or even to say hi. Have a wonderful Merdeka Day.
Kind regards Stefano Piumatti Principal of Taylor’s International School Puchong
