The start of the first week of term has been slightly disrupted by the continued uncertainties over the current Covid-19 concerns. As a school we have remained open and students are conducting face to face learning with 80% of learners attending classes on the Secondary campus. The current strict SOPs ensure we follow the MoH guidelines and so far this has proven to work well.
Some parents have chosen to keep their children at home and this is completely understandable. We are providing ‘Live Streaming’ via the Zoom platform to give home based learners access to the classroom learning, however please note that this is not the same as the previous Zoom sessions conducted last year as the teacher will not always be working at the computer and therefore not always seeing the messages or able to answer the questions that are put forward online in the chat immediately. The face to face learning for the majority of the learners will be the priority as they are directly supervised by the teacher. Teachers will however be posting the class activities in the relevant Google classrooms.
As part of the highlights for this week, we have some news from the Secondary Student Council. After a hard but fair election, we can now announce that our Student Council Chairpersons have been elected, Congratulations go to Joshua Brandon Ambros (9O) and Arianne Lim (9U).
In House news, we kicked off Term 2 with a House 'Crossword' competition. Congratulations to Ms. Suba and Red House for winning this event.
We are now also entering into IGCSE language examination period for our Year 11 students. Over the next few weeks there are ten language exams, with the last exam on Thursday 3rd June. Although the Covid-19 concerns exist, at this stage all these examinations are planned to continue as outlined in the timetable and I am sure that with all the hard work that our students have done in preparing for these, the results will follow in the same footsteps as previous years.
