With the Year 11 IGCSE mock examinations starting next week, this week our Year 11 learners are making final preparations for this process. During this time, Year 11 will be off their normal timetable for 7 school days where either they will be present in an exam or in a supervised revision area. No study leave is considered during this time. From the Wednesday of the second week, there are still some IGCSE mock examinations taking place till the Friday of that week, however normal timetable will resume as less learners' timetable are affected.
Once all the mock examination results have been recorded, a 'Forecast Grade Report' will be created for every Year 11 learner that can be used for college applications. This will be available from the beginning of term 3 and all class based tests, teachers assessments, CAT test data and mock examination results are considered when making this forecast. Although the results cannot be guaranteed, as a school these predictions have produced close predictions, the percentage data for the forecast grades as a whole school have matched the whole school data from the IGCSE final results.
This Wednesday we had an 'Interhouse' football competition where learners from each house competed against each other in a small team soccer competition. Those taking part as a team were supported by each house crowding around the edges. It was thrilling and exciting for all, with great fun and enjoyment. Sadly the final did not take place and will be held at another time and we have to wait for a short while to find this year's cup winners.
During the week we also held a Year 9 options meeting for Year 9 learners in the auditorium. Here many teachers gave a short overview of some subjects that needed a little more explanation. Subjects like; Add Maths, Science options, Environmental Management, Accounting, Travel & Tourism, GP, History and Geography. Some subjects you will recognise as new additions to the options and these will be available but we will need a minimum number of learners to choose these to make offering the subject as a viable option.
I would like to remind all parents about the P<C appointments that have been made available online for the Parent and Learner Teacher Conferences on 19th July. I can see that many parents have started to create these appointments, however for those still yet to confirm these, please make sure you login to the Engage portal soon to ensure your preferred time is available for you.
