It has been a great start to this third term and following the August break, it was clear that heading back to the classrooms was eagerly awaited. We have been so encouraged to see that our operating procedures and processes have been established and consistently followed this week by all parents and students and although each week we are reviewing these procedures, it seems to be working very efficiently at present.
An obvious highlight for the school has been the IGCSE grades that were published from Cambridge during the August break. These are for our language based examinations, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia and as in previous years we had outstanding results with a 100% pass rate across the five language examinations at all levels and a 94% A* to A target reached, again inline with previous years.
As part of the Merdeka celebrations, we held a class based event on Friday morning with a video, national anthem and writing activity. It was excellent to see all learners and teachers participating and clearly proud to be part of the celebrations. Thank you to all parents for the help and it was a pleasure to see learners dressed in their traditional costumes for this occasion.
Next week we are having our Year 11 PTCs appointments organised via Zoom. The time windows for these have been sent to all parents via the Engage Portal and run from Tuesday to Thursday from 3:40pm to 5:00pm and on Friday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. It is a busy time for Year 11s as they begin preparations for their final IGCSE examinations that start in 5 weeks time.
As we continually learn to adapt to the changes to the learning environment due to the Covid-19 concerns, we are excited to see that the MOE have provided operating procedures that will allow us to begin Sports and Physical Education activities back to the timetable. All Secondary parents will have received information from the PE department about how this is organised and this will definitely help us to bring a better balance to the curriculum offered in the school.
