This week we welcomed our families and staff back to start the last term of the year. I must say it feels so much better doing this in the knowledge that all year groups can indeed return back to the school and be physically back in their learning spaces. All of our primary school team are really looking forward to Term 3 in which we can all enjoy the learning together. After quite a wait, some of our families who were stuck overseas have now been granted authorization to return to Malaysia. Some of them are already in quarantine whilst others are travelling or getting ready for their trip back. We just want to wish them well on their travels and hope that the quarantine period will not be too uncomfortable.
For those who have joined us from abroad and are still waiting for permission to travel, thank you very much for joining our community of learning. We are very happy to support you online and hope to welcome you in Puchong soon!
We have now had a number of weeks with our students being back in the school building. I think it is fair to say that the behaviour of our students has exceeded our expectations. I would like to express my gratitude to all those members of staff who have guided and prompted our students to make their time in school as safe as possible, ensuring that the school remains a safe place for children to learn.
With the Covid situation being managed well, both nationally and in our school, we can now announce that some arrangements will now be altered. From Tuesday onwards, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin will return to teaching the students in streamed level groups. We have also worked on procedures and routines that allow us to start using the specialist teaching classes for ICT, Art & Design and Music. Needless to say, we will continue to fully adhere to the safety SOP guidance that is in place.
This week we also received notification that the Ministry of Education (MoE) will now allow physical activities outside of the classrooms to take place. We truly welcome this news as we feel it is of great importance that the children can resume physical activities inside the school compound. It improves their well-being, improves their health and improves their learning! Having just received the SOP, we are currently in the process of finalising procedures and structures to do this in the safest manner possible. We aim to start PE, Swimming and outside play from Monday 7th of September onwards.
We congratulate all the members of our community on the country’s Merdeka Day, enjoy your long weekend and we are looking forward to having the children back in school on Tuesday the 1st of September.
