This week we received the news we have all been waiting for - PE lessons are finally back!
Starting from next week, years 7-11 will be taking part in full PE lessons, whilst primary school will start during the following week from Monday 7th September. However, as excited as we are, there are specific rules we must follow to ensure the safety of the students and teachers concerned are maximised.
All students should wear face masks before and after the lesson, but during the lesson they do not have to wear them. Students should wear their PE kit from the start of the day and remain in it for the rest of the day after their PE lesson. If they would like to get changed then they must come and speak to me first as we want to limit the number of people using the changing rooms as much as possible. We also encourage students to bring their own bottles of water and a small towel.
From our side, we will ensure that the facilities and equipment are wiped down before and after each lesson to minimise the risk of spread and will ensure that we wash our own hands regularly. I’d encourage you all to contact me if your child is feeling unwell before the lesson so we can make a decision on the safety of them taking part. We have been preparing for this for the last few months and feel extremely prepared so please rest assured that we will take all the necessary precautions possible so that your child is safe during their PE lessons.
I will continue to update you as and when necessary. As I write this my department and I are speaking about the possibility of continuing sports team training sessions for low risk sports such as Badminton, Swimming, Table tennis and Volleyball amongst other sports. I will keep you informed as much as possible about the progression of this. I thank you for your continued support and patience throughout this process. We are all ready and raring to go!
