With the internal examinations for Year 10 well underway, our Year 10 learners have been practising the typical IGCSE examination environment. So far these have gone very well and with KS3 examinations happening in a couple of weeks, there is visible focus seen with our learners.
As part of forward planning our Head of Humanities has planned for an educational visit for next year and has asked to share this exciting opportunity with you as per below.
Mr. Marco Damhuis (Head of Primary) Email Contact :
marco.damhuis@pc.tis.edu.my This year the Humanities Department is organising TIS Puchong’s first ever school tour to Vietnam for March 2020. This trip is open to all year groups to support and enhance learning within Humanities (Geography, History and Global Perspectives) at both KS3 and KS4 level through experiential learning.
There is no doubt that our young people need to be skilled in core subjects. But they also must be prepared for the increasingly complex world they will experience after graduation. It is a world that demands an understanding of other people and cultures; the ability to work in a team structure; and critical thinking, oral communication, and decision-making skills. Humanities and experiential learning engages learners with the challenges of our demanding global society.
Culturally, as well as an addition to the curriculum being studied at school, this tour will be an invaluable student experience. Historically, students will get to visit, first-hand, places such as the Cu Chi Tunnels, Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum and much more. Budding young geographers will put into practice their map reading and orienteering skills in our Race Around Saigon and will be amazed at the bustling functionality of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). And finally our Global Perspectives students will be afforded the opportunity to speak first hand with farmers about the damming of the Mekong and the consequences that this is having on their livelihoods.
The cost of the 5-day tour will be RM3,850. This price includes flights, internal travel costs, accommodation in quality hotels (high end 3 star), all breakfasts, most lunches and dinners, a national escort throughout the whole trip, all transfers, travel insurance, sightseeing and associated entry fees *Airfare may be subject to change upon seat confirmation.
