“It’s about the journey as much as the outcome.” This quote was adapted from the famous Olympian Carl Lewis. The learning journey is as important as the end goal itself. Learning happens when children are active and having fun. Taylor’s Quantum Learning describes the word ‘LEARN’ as an acrostic poem - Laughter, Exploring, Anticipation, Relevant, Novelty. It is something that captures attention, creates connection and engages the young brain.

The learning experience becomes meaningful when children are all engaged. This week, I have seen some fun learning in every corner of our school. There were children actively discussing celebrations that they do at home while comparing these to what others celebrate globally, there were children acting out legends from faraway lands and there were children researching dinosaurs from the triassic, jurassic and cretaceous periods. These are examples of how our Recipe Plus - Global Citizens, connects purposefully to our daily learning.

Nurturing children to be global citizens becomes a priority now that the world feels like a smaller place; we can reach places that were once too far or unheard of. Technological platforms have created a means of communication like never before and we are instantly connected through social media. As global citizens, links are created and children learn to understand the wider world and their place within it; cultural and environmental awareness becomes a reason to take action. This was demonstrated at Taylor’s when the children brought in food to be donated to the Titian Kasih project. We love planning projects with the children to ensure awareness of issues that affect communities nationally and internally. I can’t express how happy and excited my team and I are to hopefully welcome parents again through Taylor’s doors and to invite everyone to be part of this journey.
