In this last full week of term 2 all learners have had the opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved and how that enables them to set targets for what is next. A great highlight was the character awards assembly that took place on Wednesday this week, where 9 learners were selected to receive our "Core Value" certificates for being role models in exemplifying our Taylor's core values. These awards may lead on to the "Learning Leaders" awards at the end of the year.
Another highlight this week for TIS Puchong was the opportunity to host 18 visiting learners from Hong Kong who wanted to learn a little about our school and the kind of lessons our learners experience. They all enjoyed the VR, Robotics and Science lessons and it was pleasing to see the support given to them from our current learners. We look forward to seeing them again next year.
This week was also important for Year 11 learners, as all Year 11’s needed to confirm their final IGCSE entries for the October IGCSE examinations. They were also given usernames and passwords to access the Cambridge results service during the holiday break as the May/June examinations results are issued on 13th August. We have very high expectations for all candidates and wish them the best of luck for the coming results. Also as part of the support for the coming October IGCSE examinations, for term 3 we have structured intervention and revision classes held for Year 11 learners in addition to their normal timetable. This is to ensure the best possible guidance is given to encourage maximised potential attainment by all Year 11 learners.
There was also a deadline on Friday for the Year 9 IGCSE options selection procedure. We will now use this data to plan and prepare what will be the confirmed classes and potential Year 10 entries for 2010. Currently the data is looking very positive and we will confirm class options for Year 9 in term 3.
