Our last week before the Deepavali break was again a week filled with IPC activities. Year 1 had their trip to the PJ Life Arts Theatre to enjoy a performance called ‘The Bear’. This was linked to their new unit ‘Look! Listen!’. Year 6 celebrated their learning in the ‘What Price Progress’ unit, presenting, amongst other things, some impressive inventions of their own.
The Year 2 children enjoyed planting plants and herbs in the new EY area as part of their Entry Point of a unit called ‘Green Fingers’. After that, Year 4 raised awareness of environmental issues during their Exit Point of their “Saving the World’ unit. The last special IPC activity for this week was a rather tasty one. The Year 5 children shared the learning that they had experienced during their ‘Bake It’ unit. Obviously, we did not turn down the chance to taste some of the bread that had been baked for this event. We do realise that towards the end of the year, is gets rather busy with school activities, so a big thank you to all those parents that attended our IPC activities is in order. It is always so encouraging to see so many parents join us for these Exit-Points!
For many, the highlight of the week was undoubtedly our Deepavali Celebration assembly. We do celebrate all major traditional festivities well at TIS Puchong and this assembly was certainly no exception to that. We enjoyed a traditional dance at the start, with an interview with the dancer at the end. This helped us to understand the dance more. Next in line, to the excitement of the children, was a large group of teachers performing a well-rehearsed second dance. More excellent performances were to follow, allowing the audience to learn more about Deepavali and to celebrate this colourful festival of light. As we left the hall, we were treated to one more special performance by a group of traditional Urumi drummers. A fitting end to a special celebration.
School is now closed for lessons until next Thursday the 31st of October. We wish you all an enjoyable Deepavali break.
