Dear Parents,
Thank you for being here and welcome to Term 2. It is not the sort of welcome I would have liked to give you but it is what it is. As you all will know by now, the MCO has been extended until 12 May adding to the pressure and stress I am sure we are all feeling, but it is precisely in moments like this that we need to support each other and work together as a community as much as possible.
I understand the serious concerns that many of you are facing and I have had multiple conversations with parents by phone and by email. We as a group are trying everything possible and every angle has been considered. We have to balance what is best for the staff, the students, the parents as well as the future of the school. We want to make sure that when the MCO is lifted, and it will be, that you can all come back to the School as you left it.
In the first three weeks of the MCO in Term 1, we received many positive comments on the quality of the online teaching and the efforts of our teachers. As we enter Term 2 we are very aware that it is a process of continual review and improvement. I have had meetings with parent representatives of several Year Groups this week and I appreciate you talking to me and sharing your thoughts and suggestions with us. I know that my leadership team and my teachers are listening to you and are implementing changes and improvements to online learning as we speak. Mr Marco and Mr Mike will elaborate more about this in their sections of this newsletter.
The most important thing overall is that we maintain our health and that our students, your children, are safe. Your children are not ahead nor behind in their learning, they are where they need to be. Right now I need you to share your calm, your strength and your love and know that our teachers are also doing this and indeed supporting also as best they can. We as educators are very serious about this and we need your encouragement.
I want to end by wishing all our community to have a good weekend and to our Muslim members Ramadan Kareem. Have a blessed holy month.
Yours sincerely,
Stefano Piumatti
