I am sure you have read or will read this somewhere else again, but I cannot believe that this year has already come to an end. Looking back at 2019, I do not hesitate in saying that the school has progressed even further and there was much to be celebrated at the end of this year. Although, like any reflective school, we always aim to improve further, there were many reasons to feel satisfied and content. Many developments have taken place. There are some that definitely should be mentioned in our last newsletter of the year.
The way our parents have come together for the many events they have organised, is nothing short of amazing. As I am writing this, I have just returned from the End-of-Year gathering that the parents had put on for our community on the last day of school. Many of our parents enjoyed the amazing variety of food that was on offer. It was great to see that so many parents reserved this time to end the year together in a celebratory fashion. This event was just one example of the various activities that have been going on. We have come together as a community during multiple occasions; during the Sports Days, the International day, Book Week, end of year parties and many more. Next year you can count on even more initiatives and activities for our community, organised by parents for the parents!
Another reason to look back in gratitude is that our teachers have gone ‘the extra mile’ in getting the best learning for our children to happen. They have put a lot of time and energy into further implementing the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) and creating the best learning environment with the best practises through the use of the Quantum Learning system. They have worked tirelessly, putting in a lot of extra hours, to make sure that the learning and the welfare of our children is at the highest level it can be.
Over the past two weeks we have had many events that had to do with wrapping up the past year. We acknowledged our sporting talent and our PE Department during the Sports Gala Awards and we said goodbye to our Year Six students during our Completion of Primary Ceremony
On Thursday, we said thank you to all our parent volunteers who have helped in the school in one way or the other. We did so by offering them breakfast as we know that in Malaysia the best way to say thank you is with food! A big thank you to all the parents who have helped in the school. We know that we can count on you, and new volunteers, for the new academic year.
On that same day, we also reserved some time for the children to go into their new 2020 classes. The teachers welcomed all their new children (some with special traditions) and gave them a feel of what enjoyable learning in their new classes will be like.
Sadly, this time of year is always a time when we bid farewell to some of our children, some families, colleagues and friends. We thank them for all they have done and wish them all the best in the future. You have all been an important part of our journey and we hope to stay in touch.
If you are relocating or traveling over the holidays, we wish you safe travels along your way. I hope you will all be able to enjoy your family time over the next few weeks. We are already looking forward to welcoming you all back on Wednesday the 8th of January on the first day of school.
