It has been another excellent year for our learners in all areas of learning at TIS Puchong; the IGCSE attainment grades, the sporting achievements and the performing arts opportunities have proven the depth of potential of learners in the Secondary school.
Following on from the previous years IGCSE attainment grades achieved by learners, the 85% overall percentage A* to C pass grades was equalled with identical percentage for 2019. An 85% A* to C pass grade percentage was achieved from the cumulative addition of IGCSE examinations taken by our learners within the year 2019. This is clear evidence that TIS Puchong is an outstanding school with a pass grade percentage of almost 20% higher than UK schools average of the same examinations. We are very proud of our learners attainments and look forward to increasing this percentage of the coming years.
As part of the continued uplevelling of teaching and learning excellence, this year has seen the exciting development of the Quantum Learning teaching methods and strategies being extensively used within the classrooms throughout the Secondary school. As a result we are delighted to see learner engagement increased and this is evidently going to affect the attainment grades in all aspects of the teaching and learning environment of the school. We have had several visits from the Quantum Learning team from America who have supported and guided the teaching team throughout this initiative and will continue to support us as we establish Quantum Learning accreditation for the school and for individual teachers.
As we reflect on the opportunities that have been given to learners provided by both the Performing Arts and Sports departments of the Secondary school, it is again apparent that the academic achievements are being matched by talents and skills that indicate that our learners are multi talented and hard working. A clear sign that the Taylor’s Core Values are continued to be upheld by learners as they strive to achieve their potential in the variety of opportunities and disciplines that they are involved.
One of the key highlights for the Secondary school has been our extended opportunities to bring in new emerging technologies and extend the skills for programming and coding within the curriculum. As part of this initiative some Key stage syllabus and subject streams have been upleveled and upgraded to include electronic and robotic programming skills where coding becomes part of the curriculum experiences that ensure our learners have the opportunity to gain a better awareness of the relevant skills associated with these new technologies. This foundation continues to be built as it lays the blueprint for increasing these skills even further as we extend these experiences to impact the curriculum even further in 2020.
The use of virtual reality and augmented reality experiences to enhance potential and attainment has increased within the Science stream and like programming and coding, we also look forward to building on these experiences even further next year.
2020 will be an exciting year to watch as we believe the impact of the foundations laid by the Quantum Learning and new technologies initiatives will impact results and attainment even further and guide learners to ensure they have a solid foundation of experiences that prepare them for the next step of their learning journey.
