This year has been historic, seeing us come out victorious winning 37 trophies compared to 18 in the previous 2 years and seeing more students take part in sport than ever before, an increase of over 30% from last year.
This year has been an incredible one. We have taken part in all of our KLISS and KL Sports league fixtures as well as many invitational tournaments and with still one very special tournament to attend this week. Today TIS Puchong have over 80 sports teams. To think 3 years ago we had 0, it is an astonishing achievement from the whole school from management down to the students. Since we started producing sports teams our aim was to just have enough to fulfil our KLISS and KLSL fixtures. We have progressed far from that, and are now winning multiple championships. We also competed in MSSD tournaments. In term 2 this year, no other International school won more KLISS and KL Sports League championships than us. Not one school. This really has been a year of breaking records and firmly putting TIS Puchong on the sporting map in Malaysia.
The highlights are endless. We embraced a new sport in Hi5 Volleyball and won championships in that straight away. On the subject of Volleyball we have dominated the division this year. Our girls have won everything in sight, after finishing as runners-up in the majority of their finals last year, they came through and across the under 13, 15 and 18 won 6 championships. Our Football teams have been fantastic too. We have won under 9, 11, 13 and 15 tournaments throughout the year and pushed hard for both boys and girls. We have continued our domination of the girls Basketball scene with championships across the board and have played some great Basketball in the process. Our KLISS Primary swim team finished 3rd this week in their tournament which is the best we have ended up in our history and our Cross Country finished 5th, which is also their best placing.
Looking ahead to next year, we expect even more great memories to be made. Trials will take place in the first full week back at school (see the PE office for the trial posters). These will be available for sign up from the first day back at school. The big news for this week is that our Phuket 7’s tournament in Thailand takes place over this weekend! Four of our Football teams will be travelling there, including our first ever primary team (under 11 girls) and they’re hoping to play their best Football and advance to the latter stages. Thank you to all the parents for all your continued support and please follow our school sports instagram account taylors.lightning to see more up to date information regarding anything from PE lessons to sports teams, and celebrations of all our efforts over the year.
Have a wonderful break. I can’t wait to get going again in January.
