Over the past couple of weeks, the Secondary school community has again needed to revert back to using the ‘Zoom’ platform for online learning as the concern over the rise in Covid-19 cases continues. The challenge that this brings is one of continued flexibility and commitment from all stakeholders; teachers, learners and parents alike. Because of previous experience in adapting the curriculum, teaching methods and strategies the learning focus continues to be robust and the expectations are still the same. To ensure that all learners at TIS Puchong have access to the best learning experiences possible, whatever the circumstances we find ourselves in.
During this time period, Year 11 students who are taking the language IGCSE examinations have been allowed to attend school to take the examinations as planned and I am delighted to say that we have had full attendance for these examinations so far with students looking focussed and ready despite the logistic challenges they may have. Each year our IGCSE language examinations produce outstanding results in both Mandarin and Malay, this year our expectations for these have not been lowered. We are very proud of our students at TIS Puchong and continue to be inspired by their ongoing commitment and hard work.
We have also come to the point where our Year 9 students need to start thinking about making some decisions about which IGCSEs they want to study next year. The IGCSE options process started in earnest this week with an assembly that outlined the plans for this term with dates for various events and information that will be shared with Year 9 students and their parents. If any Year 9 Parent would like more clarity on this, please email Ms Jemimah jemimah.jayaraj@pc.tis.edu.my .
This week the Secondary student council held their first meeting of Term 2. It was chaired by our joint Chairpersons, Joshua Ambrose and Arianne Lim from Year 9. With students working online for now, we encourage all learners to reach out to the student council representatives if they have any questions or matters to raise. I know that the SC are looking into a few exciting ideas for the coming term and we will be looking forward to seeing some great opportunities for our students to showcase more of their talents.
