As we have continued with the online learning platform to deliver the curriculum, it has been such a busy week as we have been preparing for the Year 11s to return to school on Wednesday 24th June. Although the school building seems the same, classrooms and setups have needed to adapt for social distancing. In many areas of the school you will now find floor markings to show directions and spaces to sit and stand.
The classrooms have been arranged according to the MoE operating procedures and in some cases we have reallocated classes to larger rooms to cater for the larger class sizes. We are delighted that due to the large science classroom sizes, we can continue these Year 11 science classes as normal and get some great experiments running. Sadly we will not be creating any sporting activities at present as these have been banned as school activities by the MoE.
On the morning of the 24th June I will be meeting with all Year 11 learners to outline the procedures for them to follow to ensure the school environment is safe and help ensure the best learning opportunities continue to flourish at the school.
As part of this preparation, we have sent a number of documents home via the Engage portal and I have arranged virtual meetings with parents for different year groups next week. Year 11 is on Monday 22nd June at 2:00 pm. I have also arranged a virtual Zoom meeting for Year 9 parents on Friday 26th June at 2:00 pm to discuss IGCSE options. I am hoping I can arrange a meeting for Year 10 parents for Monday 29th June and I will be confirming this next week.
We have made some changes for some secondary items in the school calendar, as a reminder for Year 11 parents, the mock examinations will now run from Tuesday 7th July to Friday 24th July.
It is not clear as yet whether we can start preparing for the return of other Year groups, but we are working closely with the MoE to see where allowances can be made and we will be directed by them.
