As we are now coming to the end of the second term the review about progress is underway. The reports for Term 2 have been issued and with the PTC on Friday, there were many opportunities to discuss targets achieved and improvements to make.
Some highlights this week must include the Inter-house soccer competition that took place on Wednesday for Years 7 to 10. This was the second part of an earlier event and was clearly a successful event showing teamwork and participation with a solid dose of sportsmanship all round.
Also this week on Wednesday the Year 11s had a visit from the AISM (Australia International School) leadership team who presented information on the HSC offered by the school. The vibrant presentation was extremely useful for Year 11 learners who have yet to consider their options and pathways after they graduate from TIS Puchong. I have become aware that there is considerable discount and it may be possible for TIS Puchong Year 11 learners to get 50% annual discount on tuition fees. If any Year 11 parents wish to discuss this then please contact the AISM admissions team for more information.
The Parent and Learner Teachers conferences took place on Friday for all Secondary learners and for those learners who attended, I am aware that some excellent conversations took place about progress and targets and some followup meetings will also be taking place where issues for concern on progress have been identified to discuss the support that is provided to help manage these issues.
Finally as part of final preparations for the Year 11 IGCSEs in October we will be sending out a letter to each Year 11 learner parent. This will include a list of subjects and personal information about entries for the October examinations. Please check this information carefully, sign and return this back to the school before the end of the week to confirm IGCSE entries and check that the personal data is accurate. The school has to make final entries into the Cambridge system during the August break and any changes made after that will be late entry fees that parents may be liable for.
