We are delighted we are back to a full sporting programme after an interrupted 2 and a half years.
The school has felt invigorated and excited to have sporting tournaments back as well as attending trials and being part of a team once again. We have got a full schedule up and running this year for AIMS and KL Sports League as well as seeing success in MSSD Volleyball.
The sports we have excelled in this year include Benchball, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Cross country, Swimming and Netball. To choose one or two teams out would not be fair to the rest of our teams who have performed tirelessly to bring back trophies and medals to the school. But this is not what our school’s vision for sport is. We do not necessarily need or require silverware. Instead, we encourage as many students to participate in as many sports as they wish to. We aim to give them memories that last a lifetime, teach discipline, provide them with the feeling of being part of a team and building upon their cardiovascular endurance, strength and skills. I’m extremely proud and happy with our students and the way they have gotten back into sport in the school so seamlessly.
I would also like to pay tribute to my fantastic department. They have worked extremely hard during trials to include as many students as possible. They then held training sessions, sometimes double training sessions, to ensure students got the feel for the sport back after such a long time away. Going from zero to attending fixtures and being away from their families a couple of times a week very quickly happened pretty much overnight but there was no complaining, no problems, they just got their heads down and worked hard like they always have. I could not be prouder of the Physical Education and Sports department we provide you with.
I hope everyone has a restful but activity-filled break and comes back rejuvenated ready for a huge 2023!
