Last night we finished the last of our information session for our parents, signaling the return of the last classes to our primary school next week on Wednesday. We were already very happy to have the children in our Early Years department back in school. This week we saw the return of our Year 5 & 6 children and it brought an extra buzz back to the school building. So, it’s all happening and soon all the year groups will be back at Bukit Puchong 2.
We were very happy to have the opportunity to speak to so many parents about our safe return into the school. Thank you to the parents for sharing your thoughts, suggestions and concerns. Thank you to the Primary team for getting the school ready and communicating the changes so clearly.
During the information sessions we were very upfront about aiming to get as many children as possible to return back to school. Our teachers have done a truly wonderful job supporting the children in their online learning. They have been creative, flexible, resilient and dedicated to the children’s learning. But being able to learn with your friends and teachers in one room, creating that energy and dynamic interaction, you get to realise what we have missed for so long.
I have been into all of the Year 5 and 6 classes, welcoming our students back to school and talking a bit about how they have experienced the past few months. I acknowledged that we now have many more rules and agreements to adhere to, and we talked about the reasons why they are important in the situation we are in. I sensed a great level of understanding on the necessity to be careful and mindful. We also talked about the willingness to help each other, to act responsibly and stick to the expectations that we had to put in place. But more than anything else, there was a clear feeling of joy and excitement to finally be back in school. A sentiment wholeheartedly shared by every member of the Primary team!
Mr. Stefano already outlined the need for all of us to remain flexible and patient during the first phase of our return to school. We will monitor all aspects of school life extra carefully and will adapt quickly where needed. Over the next couple of weeks, or perhaps months, it will be extra important to stay in communication with each other so we can achieve the best outcome for our children; a safe environment for our children in which everybody is enjoying the great learning that is taking place!
