I am so pleased with how our learners have adapted to the new procedures that they have to follow upon their return to school. As I write this, we have learners from Year 8 to 11 following their original timetable and engaging in their planned timetabled lessons whilst following all the social distancing guidelines that have been outlined.
This continues to be unprecedented times and the ’new norm’ of social distancing has guided the new framework for learning. Effective learning continues to be the underlying focus for our classroom environments and with the change of desk setup, teachers and learners have needed to adapt to these new arrangements. We are delighted to be able to give learners more opportunities for experiential learning and our Science experiments are now more hands on. We have to change how we organise them a little, however it is so great to see experiments running in the classrooms and learners getting the full benefit of experiential learning.
It was great to have a chat with so many parents in the various Zoom meetings that were held this week. I trust that we were able to answer many of the questions you had and clarified a few thoughts for you. I know that some of the arrangements for pick-up and drop off were the main point of discussion and if there are still a few parents that still need some clarity on this, please email the Secondary office at secondaryoffice@pc.tis.edu.my .
The Year 7 & 8 PTCs were via Zoom this Friday and I would like to hear from you on how these went as the feedback on the use of this as a tool for appointment bookings could be made in the future if parents will be unable to come to the school for Face to Face meetings when these become possible after the removing of this restriction.
The Year 11 mock examinations have mostly been completed and we are delighted with the attendance. Although most papers are still yet to be marked, I know that many learners and parents are very anxious to hear how these are going and with the few discussions I have had with teachers who have marked some papers, they are suggesting that learners have done really well and they are really pleased with the first observations. The full results of these will be available in term 3 once all the marking has been completed.
Finally it will be exciting to see all of the Secondary school back in full swing on Monday as Year 7 will be joining us. We have waited a long time for this and I know many parents and learners have too.
