Now that we have had the opportunity to be back on the school campus and have face-to-face learning in the classrooms, it is so encouraging to see the smiles of learners and teachers alike. Throughout the last year with so many inconsistencies, it has been difficult to ensure continuity, however, let’s trust that 2022 will bring more positive opportunities to ensure we make the best of the learning opportunities.
As in previous terms we are following all the SoPs given to us by the MoE and ensuring that all our learners are constantly making the decisions about face masks and physical distancing. I had the opportunity to speak to all learners via an online assembly this Friday and it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to welcome them back to school and also to take the opportunity to outline the importance of continued self-care and being aware of how this impacts others around them.
At the end of 2021, we had a couple of our teachers leave to go to other areas of the country and we will continue to think of you and appreciate the memories you gave us. We welcome some new staff to the Secondary teaching team, including Ms. Amy Hetherington our new Head of English. Amy has worked as a Head of English in Asia here and we are privileged to have her as part of the team.
Since it has been a while since our last day of school we have heard of so many individuals having the opportunity to participate again in competitions and events, especially swimming, congratulations to all our swimming medalists, especially Elsa Yeng Yii Eow in Year 10 and Charmaine Hung Yun Wen in Year 11 who together gained 7 medals, including 5 gold medals between them, amazing.
As we look ahead towards the new term, we have a busy calendar with Year 7 taking their CAT 4 tests next week and already preparations for the IGCSE language-based mock examinations are underway. We also have last year's Year 11 cohort receiving their IGCSE provisional results on Tuesday next week. We trust, as in previous, that all our TIS Puchong candidates will be proud of their achievements.
Finally, I want to wish all our TIS Puchong school community a happy Chinese New Year and trust you will remain safe, Gong Xi Fa Cai !!!
