As undoubtedly discussed before, our team’s dedication is to help our students to grow academically, personally and in an international perspective. Academic learning happens through our provision of subjects. The children gather more knowledge, develop their skills and learn to reflect for understanding. Their personal learning is shaped through our RECIPE and our Taylor’s outcomes. A set of qualities, characteristics and attributes that help our children to become successful learners, successful professionals and valued citizens. We also believe that our children’s future will be global, interconnected across nations and cultures. This is why our programme includes a curriculum part where we help them to become ‘Global Citizens’.
This week, there was a beautiful example of how all of this can come together. In our weekly assembly, Gabriel (‘Gabe’), our talented dancer and performing arts student from our secondary school, introduced a dance project which he had set-up with the whole school and the full community in mind. In short, he created a website to invite all of us to take part in a dance project where we will learn a dance and upload a video of our dance performance. This video will then be merged into a whole school dance presentation.
The link is as per below:
https://sites.google.com/view/tispc-dance-music-video/home When we discussed this project, we spoke a lot about practising the skill of dancing. How practising can be messy. How not making mistakes when in the practising mode, would probably indicate that your challenge is not big enough. The connection with our RECIPE aspect of ‘striving for Excellence’. Excellent deliveries are never achieved without a process of constant improvement; ‘the learning zone’. In the zone, the Taylor’s outcome of ‘Resilience’ will take an important part. Not giving up when a particular dance move seems to get your legs into a tangle every time.
The more we spoke about it, the more connections we could make to our full provision of learning. But let’s end with one more reference. At the end of our assembly, we conducted a small interview with our dance master, Gabe. Talking about the ‘Performance Mode’, reaching the ‘excellent ‘level, he eloquently explained that the most important element that will get you there is the ‘Passion’ you have for what you do. The ‘P’ in our recipe. Here at Taylor’s, we are passionate about helping your children learn! Academically, personally and in an international perspective. We appreciate your collaboration as we aim to ‘Raise them Ready!’
