In another week of uncertainties I have been delighted to see so many learning opportunities resulting in a positive ethos of which continues to be embedded within the Secondary school.
One of the highlights this week has been the transition event that took place on Wednesday, where the current Year 6 classes from the Primary school, came up to the Secondary school for some taster Secondary school lessons. If you do get a chance to chat with one of our Year 6 learners, please ask them about the CSI investigation that took place, a science based activity to find evidence that was the background to a role play which indicated that Mr Marco had been fatally wounded.
This week the Cambridge IGCSE examinations for Year 11 have started with two ICT exams and an Add Maths exam on Friday. I am delighted to say that these seemed to have gone well and we are pleased with the 100% attendance that was possible for these exams this week. If any Year 11 learner is affected by a lockdown, please communicate to the school immediately as we need to ensure you get the support you need and if it's possible to still attend school because of the exam process then we will help arrange this accordingly.
With the growing concerns of Covid-19 affecting a further lockdown in some areas of Selangor, it is a concern that this could spread and that more areas could be affected however currently we are still open and running the class based lessons as normal following the normal timetable. We do have a small number of teachers affected by this temporary lockdown and they are now working from home. They will be using ‘Zoom’ as a tool to teach directly to the learners they teach who will be in the classroom as normal and the teacher will be assisted by a supervisor who will cast the zoom link to the board for the class to see and will be supporting the subject specialist teacher directly throughout the lesson.
As highlighted previously, with the current MoE guidelines indicating that we should be open, then TISPC remains open as normal on Monday and with a 92% attendance figure for the school, it seems that this is supported by the majority of parents.
As there are increasing concerns about Covid-19 issues, parents may decide to keep their child at home. This is of course understandable, however the learning provision will be limited to Google classroom activities and tasks, it is unlikely we will be able to run both class based learning and Zoom lessons with the current attendance percentage on campus. If this changes, then we will review this accordingly.
