This week was just another reminder for us that 2020 will continue to be a year unlike any other in recent history. Both the rising numbers of Covid-19 cases and the need for some areas to come under the CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order) have shown us once again that we are still very much dealing with this pandemic and that the immediate future remains hard to predict.
On Thursday, I met with all members of our primary team to talk through the latest changes and measures that had to be taken. I felt it only right to compliment them on the flexibility and adaptability they have shown ever since we started to respond to the challenges that we have been confronted with. Our team has worked tirelessly, with dedication and resilience to ensure our children and their families got the best deal they could possibly get given the circumstances. I know that they will continue to do so whilst Malaysia is getting a grip on the second wave of cases that have emerged.
This also very much holds true for our school community as a whole. Parents have shown a great level of flexibility too as they were dealing with all the changes and challenges that they were dealing with themselves. The level of communication that was there; sharing feedback, concerns and suggestions, which ensured that we have been able to operate as one unified community throughout this epidemic. I am confident that this will remain the same as we will finish the year over the next couple of months.
Until a vaccination is readily available for every Malaysian resident, we can expect more uncertainty for the foreseeable future. If we stay in communication with each other, we can be confident that we can successfully cope with everything that comes in our way!
In our school we will continue to adhere to all the SOPs (Standard Operational Procedures) and guidelines. I have personally witnessed many of our teachers prompt and remind students to keep physical distancing and wear the mask when going around school. Teachers are also reminding each other to stay vigilant and alert.
As there has been quite a lot of information regarding the extra measures taken in our primary school, I would like to provide you with an overview of what has now been put in place as a response to the rise in the number of Covid-cases.
- Lunch, snack and breaktimes in classes, no more outside play for the time being
- Swimming and PE suspended
- Capacity for online learning provision increased
In other news, the school celebrated World Animal Day with a sponsored non-uniform day in aid of the Voice for Paws charity, organised by our PE department and supported by the Year 10 students. It was great to see the whole school coming together to support such a worthy cause.
Last but not least, our Year 6 students were involved in a very engaging transition day where they experienced the positive challenges that Secondary lessons bring to them. They even had to solve a murder mystery where a very unfortunate member of staff (me) was mock murdered on-site, and the students turned into forensic detectives to solve the crime.
Wishing all families an enjoyable weekend, keep safe!
