This week’s newsletter gives us a chance to look back at two very successful musical performances by our EY, KS1 and Year 6 children. We were, once again, so impressed by what was on stage in front of us. The acting, dancing and singing was at a high level, the energy levels were perhaps even higher and the enjoyment was clearly visible. The amount of practise that was put in by all the performers really paid off. The story of the Pirates of the Curry Bean was an engaging tale, enjoyed by the full house present. As I said on Saturday, this is now becoming a tradition in our school which we can be proud of! Well done to every one and a huge thank you to Mr. Ian and this production team, our music teachers, our primary staff and the parents. All of you supported the children in such a way that they could perform and entertain us at this high level!
Another significant event for our community was the first meeting of our newly formed PTF (Parent Teachers and Friends Committee). A medium where all layers of our community can come together and engage in debates that will help our school further develop itself and ensure that we continue to be an organisation that listens to its families. This body will also coordinate and initiate activities that take place for our community. Obviously, the Class Parents will still have a major role to play in this as well. We will keep you posted!
The week ended with our termly Parent-Teacher-Conference (PTC). The last one of 2019. I know that I say this after every PTC, but I do feel that these meetings play such an important part in the collaboration between teachers and parents. As a teacher, I always enjoyed conversations with parents in which I got a better understanding of the children that I was teaching at the same time as sharing my information on their learning and development in school. At this time of year, the PTC’s are obviously more about informing the parents and thanking each other for the year that has almost come to an end. However, any information that parents want to share at this point will be communicated with the next teacher. I hope that everybody has had good conversations and that we will have an enjoyable last two weeks of school in which learning will still take place!
