Dear Parents,
The newly formed Parents, Teachers and Friends (PTF) met yesterday (Thursday 7 November) to discuss the coming year’s agenda. It was a very positive meeting where a number of planning issues were discussed, short-term, medium-term and long-term. I am looking forward to working closely with the group in the year ahead. The PTF will no doubt be in touch with the parent body shortly as we want more parents to be involved with several projects that we are planning.
A reminder that the online bookstore is now open and that you can now purchase the booklist for next year, stationery, PE clothing for 2020. The link and reminder have been sent to everyone via the Engage portal – simply log in and you will be directed to this. I have been told that if purchases are made before 20 December, there will be a 5% discount.
This week we also saw two excursions in Secondary, one to Malacca and the other to Janda Baik. From all accounts the students had a fun and productive time. I spoke to a couple of students who said that they were tired but they enjoyed the trip. Thank you to the teachers who went on these excursions.
I am sure we will read about this more in the sports section but the football under-15 boys won two successive competitions in as many days. Mr Mark is very proud of them as I am and in one account the boys came from behind, not just in the final but in several of the games leading up to it. In addition, we competed on Monday in the KLISS cross-country tournament in various distances depending on age. Although we did not achieve one of the top three spots we competed well. I am proud of the boys and girls who went out there to participate in the tournament.

Rendezvous
In September auditions were held and a group of students from all across secondary were selected to form an elite dance team - now known as Rendezvous.
The group members are Gabriel Ambrose (Y9), Bede Lau (Y7), Danielson Jee (Y11), Emily Fong (Y9), Ethan Oey (Y9), Hailey Koh (Y9), Shannon Lim (Y9), Tharisha Rishya (Y9), Hayden Ling (Y10), Wong Yi Sheng (Y10) and Zara Wall (Y9).
They are coached by an award-winning choreographer, Faris, who has been working with them the whole time.
They were crowned winners at both Taylor's Got Talent and Jom Menari! Elite Competition and later were invited to attend the Malaysian International Dance Organisation's (MIDO) Dance competition.
At MIDO, the students were competing in the Open Category (which meant adults were also competing) and were dancing against dancers from China, Indonesia, India and Hong Kong. Despite it being their first-ever international competition, Rendezvous was ranked within the top 7 and received a Gold Award!
Moving on from this - the next competition was at the biggest dance competition or carnival, hosted by Ace Edventure Dance Crew at Dwi Emas School, Shah Alam.
Here Rendezvous was ranked 3rd in their dance auditions and after taking part in a gruelling and highly competitive competition eventually placed in the top 6 of the Open Category competition.
This group of students has done very well and are a beacon of hope and inspiration and we congratulate them whole-heartedly on their efforts and embracing this new era in Performing Arts. Moving on from here, a fresh round of auditions will be held where more students will have a chance to join Rendezvous and take part in both local and international competitions in 2020; these will be held before term- and year-end.
Kind regards
Stefano Piumatti
