The month of October is an exciting one filled with so many events in store for all to enjoy, including parents. We welcomed Teacher Appreciation Day this week with brilliant celebrations. It was lovely to see all the year groups making intricate art and craft work specially for their teachers to show their love and gratitude. The Art Team led by Ms Angeline, organised simply wonderful activities during the children’s art lessons so that the children played an active role in creating something special and memorable. Every year group made colourful paper flowers with personalised messages, then the flowers were placed in bunches and presented to all the teachers during Assembly.
This is the first Friday Assembly too, that parents were invited to join us for this annual Teacher celebration. The students beamed with extra pride singing the National Anthem and also the school song in front of all our staff and parents. There were discussions about Responsible Leaders, our RECIPE for the week, and the children reflected on who they think were responsible leaders in our society, their everyday environments and also the world. So many connections were made and it was unanimous that they felt their teachers were responsible leaders, whom they aspire to be like.
The Year 1s performed a sign language version of ‘You Raise Me Up’. It was an enjoyable collaboration with our little ones. Then Years 2,3,4 and 5 read a beautiful poem dedicated to our teachers. Following that, the Year 6s entertained us all with their rendition of ‘In This Moment’ and it definitely was a moving moment. Friday Assemblies are the best time and one that ensures an ‘enjoyable environment’ for all.
