Despite being a short week, it was busy as usual. We had the next installment of the transition between Year 6 and Year 7 students. Year 6 had lunch with Year 7 as well as enjoying the lessons that they experienced. They had a firsthand exchange of impressions and thoughts about what it is like to be in Year 7. I have to add at this point that the transition program in this school is one of the most defined and comprehensive ones that I have ever seen. The valuable insight gained by the Year 6 students will, I am sure mean, that they have a degree of comfort next year that does not exist in other schools where this does not happen. I am very proud of the way that my staff collaborate in Secondary and Primary to make this happen.
On Tuesday Class 6O held an Assembly on the story theme of Mission to Mars which gave them opportunity to present – well done 6O. Following this there was an Exit Point for the themed unit 'Ocean Treasure' which again was most enjoyable.
In Secondary, meantime, 15 students have gone to Japan for the Cultural Exchange trip. From their messages in WhatsApp, they are having a wonderful time, learning about Japan, its food and culture, visiting Higashi Yodogawa High School in Osaka to see how other students learn and today in Year 5, there will be a parent information session for the upcoming residential.
In overarching focus in Secondary is really on preparation for exams. Students are being counselled, cajoled and encouraged to do their best and to that in mind please ensure that as much as possible school uniform is adhered to for your daughter and son and that they are neat and clean. Secondly, that they come to school punctually. Particularly in Year 11 this is very important as students who arrive late miss out on instruction and salient points regarding their lessons.
A reminder for Year 2 parents that this coming Thursday 12th at 8am we have a coffee morning. Please come along and bring me your ideas, concerns but as well as the positives. I look forward to seeing you again.
