Even though this has been a short week, I have been delighted with how the busy hub of learning within the Secondary school has continued in its focus. The cogs of the machine that ensures that the school keeps up with all the administrative needs for running the learning effectively have worked so efficiently, especially under the present difficult circumstances. I would like to take this time to thank parents especially for their consideration in following up for the online home based learning that was available this past week.
For this week and in the coming weeks ahead we are obviously monitoring the situation concerning the Covid-19 issue very closely. Within the Secondary school we have minimised large group meetings as well as gaining travel declarations and the regular temperature checks for parents, visitors and learners. We have started preparing for a variety of measures in case decisions are made by the MOE or MOH regarding school operation and management. We still have to prepare for the IGCSE examinations that will take place in May and there are some IGCSE language speaking examinations in March that are planned, in most cases these dates are unchangeable as these are set by the Cambridge examination board.
This term’s parent teacher meetings are still planned, with Friday 20th March with Years 7 & 8 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Friday 27th March for Year 9 & 10 from 2:00 pm to 6;00 pm and Year 11 after school in the following week. The format for these will be slightly changed due to the current circumstances and teachers will be based in classrooms, although appointments will be available for booking online. Please check the Engage portal to book the appointment times.
Finally I would ask parents to monitor their Engage portal closely and regularly, there are likely to be many messages and emails shared with parents over the coming few weeks concerning important issues, including IGCSE examinations. It will be important to ensure you are aware of any decisions made and directions from the school concerning these and other issues currently being raised.
