With the Year 11 mock examinations underway, the secondary school had a very focused and structured week where all Year 11 teachers were watchful and supportive to Year 11 learners ensuring that any last minute preparations for learners taking the examinations went well. So far this weeks mock examinations have gone well, there have been a small amount of absent learners due to illness and where possible arrangements for rescheduling these is being made. Next week will follow a similar pattern for IGCSE mock examinations with any outstanding individual exams followed up in due course.

This week has also been the second week for Year 6 to have a short experience of the secondary school as part of a transition action plan to ensure our Primary Year 6 learners feel prepared for the move to secondary. As part of this process, I was involved in teaching learners about the use of VR in the school to support the science curriculum. It was clear learners felt engaged and excited about the variety of learning opportunities and are positively looking forward to the move.

As part of our character building program and alongside our core values we have also incorporated guidelines for what we expect our learners to consider in their approach to all learning experiences at TIS Puchong. In the Quantum Learning System '8 Keys of Excellence' are identified and we have taken one of those each week as a focus for reflection for all learners. This week is 'Ownership' and the following statements are examples that have been shared with learners throughout the week and as a focus in the assembly;

"I don't blame others for what I say and do".
"I know there are consequences for every choice I make."
"I own the choices I make and the results that follow."

Finally A reminder for Year 9 parents about next week's special options event. Information will be given to every learner that will include a booklet, floor plan and letters about the process to follow. The Event on Friday 12th July will start at 2:00 pm and finish at 5:00 pm and will give all attendees time to talk with class teachers about attainment and with Heads of department about IGCSE options. I am looking forward to chatting with you about this exciting step that is being considered.
