We started Term 2 off with a huge bang, winning our first trophy of the term in our first tournament and achieving other sporting success in KLISS.
On Thursday we hosted the KL Sports League Football under 11 boys cup finals against HELP International School, St Joseph's International School and TIS Kuala Lumpur International School. We have won this trophy in each of the last 2 years and were hoping to make this 3 consecutive championships. In our first match we beat HELP International School in a rout, 5-0. Our second game was against TIS Kuala Lumpur beating them in a close game 2-0 meaning that if we beat St Joseph's we brought the trophy back. We did it! Pressure was not a problem, winning 4-0 which meant we won for the 3rd consecutive year! Which is even more impressive, Mr Firdaus's team have played these 3 seasons without losing a single match. An incredible achievement.
On the same day we hosted KLISS Volleyball under 13 girls round 1. Our first match was against Nexus International School. Again, Mr Firdaus was the coach and the girls have responded excellently in training which showed in this first match as we started with a convincing 2-0 win. The second match was against TIS Kuala Lumpur in which we got taken to a deciding set after drawing 1-1, but our girls found their rhythm smashing 9 points to their 0 meaning we won 2-1. In the last game we played KTJ and once again won convincingly 2-0. The serving and returning from our girls was fantastic and so far ahead of the other teams. We finished top of the group meaning we qualify for the cup finals which will be held after Ramadan.
On Friday it was the turn of the under 15 boys and girls, and on Saturday it was the under 18's. As well as this we have our KL Sports League annual swimming competition at IGB International School today. I will update you with our progress in these tournaments in next week's newsletter. Our teams are training extremely hard, some having double sessions in the build up to these Volleyball and swimming tournaments tournaments and we hope this will reap rewards. The new sport we have trialled for, Hi5 Volleyball (under 11's), we have created 3 teams for both boys and girls categories which is just fantastic. We look forward to the fixtures ahead.
I wish everyone who is celebrating a very Happy Ramadan. Selamat Berpuasa!
