Over the last two weeks all the year-groups have carried out their IPC entry-point. An entry-point in IPC needs to be an activity that serves two purposes. First off, it is aimed to create enthusiasm with the students on the topic of learning for the next weeks. Secondly, it needs to spark the children's brains to make lots of connections with previous experiences and prior learning. There was certainly a lot of enthusiasm around the entry-points I have observed over the last few weeks which promises lots of inspired learning in the weeks ahead of us.
This week the Sports-Day committee met in full for the first time. The make-up of this committee represents just how much we like to involve the whole community in key events in the year. Representatives from the students, the parents, the teachers, the PE department and the school leaders came together to shape what promises to be a great whole school event. (Sports day EY to Y3 on Wednesday 12 June, Sports day Y4-Y6 Thursday 13 June and Secondary on Friday 14 June)
Today Taylor's International School Puchong Primary school celebrated Teachers' Appreciation day. A day in which we express our gratitude to the excellent work teachers do every day and their dedication to the welfare and the learning of the children under their care. The day started with an assembly in which the various year-groups expressed themselves in many different ways. The grand finale was a dance with many teachers joining in (after some gentle persuasion). Next, our Class parents turned our meeting room into the perfect café where they treated them to some breakfast and other snacks. A delicious way of extending their appreciation to our staff. The day got rounded up through even more food as the school invited all staff for an 'Appreciation Luncheon'. A thank you from us to all parents and children who showed their appreciation to their teachers today, it makes the profession something quite special!
On Thursday, the EY parents were invited for an information session. We looked at how the IEYC curriculum improves learning and how the Quantum Learning system enhances the design and delivery of the learning. We talked about how important the environment is for the children's learning and how TIS Puchong is planning to develop opportunities for learning in an outdoor environment.
Next Thursday we hold another two IPC (International Primary Curriculum) information sessions, one at 8 am and one at 7:30 pm for those parents who cannot attend the morning session. Please reply to the RSVP that has gone out if you can attend. Please note that both sessions are identical and a repeat of the information sessions we have had on before. They are aimed at parents who have not been informed about the IPC before. We are looking forward to share with you how the IPC improves learning!
