Dear Parents and Guardians,
Here we are at the end of another very busy term of learning at school. If we look at this term through the posts on school’s official Facebook and Instagram pages, we see just what our students have experienced and stand back in admiration of the talents of our students and the opportunities that are presented to them. My thanks to all the students and teachers for a very successful term.
The Solar panel’s are now in full operation and visitors to the campus will have noticed that we have recently installed a pillar near the swimming pool that displays our ethos and data around the solar panels. This information will start to be used in various lessons as we delve deeper into Care for the World and sustainability. A quick ‘snapshot’ of the panels so far shows that the school has generated a lot of energy from the solar panels, saving a lot of carbon from being released into the atmosphere. During the day that I was writing this piece, we produced over 834kWh of electricity and saved the equivalent of 64 trees! This is a powerful message to pass to students about what we can all do to reduce our impact on the planet.
For Year 11, they have just finished their trial or mock exams. These papers are a very important indicator of where each student is with their studies and revision. With the IGCSE papers starting in October, students will have time to refine and adjust their learning and revision to make sure that they score as well as they can in the real exams. I wish them the very best and encourage them to use the break to make adjustments to their revision. As the saying goes, “the more I practise, the luckier I get”.
The school has been very busy preparing for the Taylorian Rhapsody which will be presented on Thursday and Friday evenings in the auditorium. As in previous years, this is co-production with our sister school at TISKL and promises to be a momentous occasion. We have many different talents on display, so please come along and enjoy what TIS students have to offer. My thanks go out to Ms Rebecca and her team at TISPC and also to Ms Belinda and the TISKL team, without whom this show would not be possible.
On Saturday we start the end of term 2 holidays, and I would like to wish everyone a peaceful break, where I hope that everyone will be able to recharge their batteries before the return to school on Monday 19th August.
Stay safe
