Dear Parents and Guardians,
As I wrote at the start of this term, we have been very busy.
On 30th August, we had a highlight of the school year with our Merdeka Assembly celebrating Malaysia's Independence Day. Many Primary students participated in traditional costumes, with Year 4 students leading the assembly by sharing historical insights about Malaysia, the significance of the national flag, and engaging their peers with fun quizzes.
This is a festive time of the year in Malaysia, where we can all be proud of the country that we live in, and I am sure that you will not need reminding, but there are also school holidays next week, Monday and Tuesday for Malaysia day and Prophet Mohammed's birthday. We will return to school on Wednesday.
The Year 6 students recently concluded their unit on Space Scientists with an engaging exit point, where they showcased their learning through group exhibitions. They explored various topics including the composition of Earth, the atmosphere, and the relationships between the Sun, Moon, and Earth. Additionally, the students investigated potential future survival options for humanity, demonstrating their understanding and creativity in presenting this information.
Looking forward, the TISPC Class Parents are organising the International Day Bazaar on September 20th. This event will celebrate diversity and inclusion, featuring a variety of vendors, parent sellers, and cultural performances. Attendees are encouraged to wear traditional clothing from their home countries to enhance the festive atmosphere.
Also towards the end of this month, is the Primary Musical “Alice”. Make sure you get your tickets for this year's musical, as they are selling very fast. Details can be found on the accompanying poster or through the Primary office.
The Secondary school has also been very busy but in a very different way. As we are approaching the end of the school year, the focus has been on assessments and exams which are coming up for all year groups. These assessments are important as they are an opportunity for students to show what they have learnt during this year, but at the same time they are part of their learning journey and enable them to identify where they need to spend more time and preparation in the future.
Starting quite soon are the Year 11 IGCSE papers. These are the culmination of their secondary schooling so far. Students (and teachers) have been building and preparing for these papers for a long time. I would like to wish our Year 11 students all the best with their preparation for these exams and of course good luck for the actual papers.
Stay safe.
