Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to Term 3, and if you are a new parent to the school, welcome to TISKL. This term promises to be just as busy and exciting as the previous two terms. Being the final term of 2024, we will have the end of year assessments and examinations. Further down this newsletter, you will see results from Year 11 for the IGCSE language papers which are only taken in the May session of IGCSE.
The
Food and Games carnival last Saturday was a magnificent event. The weather was kind to the school with rain both before and after the event. It was so good to see parents, students and staff collaborating and supporting each other for the good of others. We are still finalising the figures but it is great that the community has come together to raise money for charities. This is a true reflection of our Care.mvmt in action, as we all worked together for others. Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved, especially the students for showing their entrepreneurial skills to come up with the idea of the stalls.
At the end of last term, TISKL announced that it would initiate an After-School Programme, to provide a provision for students to stay after school hours to help their parents with child care. This provision will allow for homework support / activities, social time and an evening meal. There is still some space available for this term, please contact the school for more details.
In May and June, students from Year 11 and some Year 10 students took IGCSE papers in languages, in particular BM and Mandarin. We are very proud of their results:-
Mandarin overall - 96% pass rate ( A* to C) and 78% A* and A.
Mandarin First language - 58% A* and A
Mandarin Second language - 50% A* and A
Mandarin Foreign language - 100% A* and A
For Bahasa Malaysia, 85% of the students achieved an A* or A in the Foreign language papers.
Congratulations to all these students and I wish them all the best for their other IGCSE subjects later this year.
All the best for this term.
