Dear parents/guardians.
We are now in a new CMCO period, and since rules have changed in some areas, I urge everyone just to take a short time to check that they are being safe and following these new rules. This is even more important now that we have a few days of public and school holidays.
As the students have seen, the online learning continues to challenge and keep them engaged. The curriculum is being covered in similar ways to when we were back in school. My thanks to the teachers for the massive adaptations that they have made to make this work really well, and to parents, especially those of younger children for taking a huge role in helping their children, and the joy that can come from that experience. I do accept that this is a challenge for all of us, but as the saying goes…”what defines us is how we rise after falling down”. The falling down in this case is not of our making but together we can overcome it.
Some great news is that TISKL was chosen from schools worldwide to join a list of eight schools who are recognised for the quality of “Delivering the IEYC through virtual learning”. This is the curriculum in Early Years Nursery and Reception, and what an accolade to get in these challenging times. TISKL joins seven other schools from Oman, India, Hong Kong, Belgium, Belize and Brazil in showcasing what they are doing. My congratulations to the staff in Early Years for this amazing effort and showing what we do here in Kuala Lumpur.
I would like to remind everyone that the new CMCO structure that has come into place still has schools closed and not operating with students. As I wrote last week, we are actively reviewing plans for when schools do reopen, but we are waiting for more clarity from the Government. We will of course publish these plans to parents before the campus opens so that you can have the confidence that we will be doing things carefully and with the health and safety of students in mind.
Some parents have asked what schooling will look like in the near and medium terms, and my best guess at the moment will be a blend of online learning and in class learning so that we can keep everyone safe with social distancing. We are a very big school and we cannot put everyone back on the campus immediately.
Please take the opportunity to relax in the next few days. It is stressful at the moment and we all need to take the time to talk with family and friends, and to share our feelings.
Stay safe and healthy by staying at home.
