U13 & U15 Girls Basketball @ ISKL - Ms.Bella & Ms.Amirah

We are very proud of our U13 & U15 Girls Basketball teams, who had a friendly match with ISKL’s U14 girls on Friday 17th January 2020. The Thunder girls played with determination and enjoyment and even had a huge victory with 60-6 by our U15 girls against the ISKL U14B team. For the U13 girls, they managed to lead in the third quarter with ISKL’s U14A team. Against strong competition, the girls were narrowly beaten 18 - 11 in the last quarter. Both teams have done incredibly well and we look forward to continuing training hard and preparing for the upcoming competitions.

U15 Girls Netball @ IGB - Ms.Audrey & Ms.Bella

On the 18th of January, we had all three U15 teams compete for the AIMS Competition at the IGB campus. Since school only just started, we managed to have just one training; thus this was going to be a challenge from the get-go. That said, our girls did a great job.

The Orange and White team were put together with ISP, Nexus, HELP and St Joseph’s in Group A while the Red team contested against IGB, TISPU, GIS and BSKL in Group B.

After a rusty, nervy start against Nexus, the Orange team fought back to win the rest of their matches in the group, landing them a spot in the semi-finals against GIS. The Red team had a great competition coming out second in their group, just behind GIS who hadn’t lost a match. They contested against Nexus in the semi-finals.

It was a high-energy, very high-level match against the formidable GIS, and our Orange girls kept up with incredible speed, accuracy and teamwork. Even so, it ended in a heartbreaking lost with a difference of only one goal. As hard as it was, the team picked themselves up to win the 3rd-4th place match against our own Red team.

Despite the tough loss (and the of a winning streak), our athletes showed commendable grit, sportsmanship and teamwork - and for this, we are extremely proud.

It was a great start to the year. Thus, it’s back to training and onto the next!

U13 & U15 Boys Basketball @ ISKL - Mr.Prem & Mr.Wong

The U13 and U15 Orange & Red boys started off their basketball season last Monday against ISKL where all four teams not only played great basketball but U15 also managed to pull off great victories for them.

The U15 Orange took a big lead after the second quarter and did not look back, beating ISKL ‘A’ 50-20 in the first ever fixture of 2020. The U15 Red team also upset the opponents in a hard fought game where the boys played with confidence. Pu Heng, John Rick lead the team and created a lot of scoring opportunities for the team.

On the other hand, The U13 Orange and Red boys struggled to register their first victories however, Team Orange made a good start managed to level the scores in the second quarter. Unfortunately, the boys could not organise their attack well and lost 36-22 to U13 ISKL ‘A’.
The U13 Team Red, a fresh basketball team could not do well as far as their defense is concerned and lost 49-10 to ISKL. However, the experience they had would definitely help them in the future games.
