Victor & Victrix Ludorum Award Winners 2021
Despite no school sport taking place since March 2020, we would still like to reward 4 star athletes with the Victor & Victrix Ludorum Awards for 2021. These rewards take into consideration all the effort, commitment and sporting prowess from Year 3-5 for the Primary Awards and from Year 7-10 for the Secondary winners.
Primary Awards:
Victor Ludorum Winner - Tan Zheng Hang (Isaac)
Isaac has excelled in the School football team, often representing the age groups above his own and being the best player in the team despite giving away 2 years in age. He was also a part of the school teams in benchball, athletics and tee ball. We are sure that, in Year 6, he would have also represented the school in High 5 Volleyball, Basketball and Badminton such is his prowess on the sports field. Well done Isaac.

Victrix Ludorum Winner - Qaireen Binti Haleelur Rahman
Qaireen has been a member of the school sports teams in athletics, football, benchball and basketball and although a rather reserved individual, allows her actions to speak as loud as any words she would say. All her teammates look up to her as a role model and she has improved her skills year after year. We are sure this year she would have also added tee ball and High 5 Volleyball to her sporting resume. Well done Qaireen.
AIMS Sport Virtual Run 2021
Although there have been no face to face sports events taking place, ISP did recently organise a Virtual Sports Run which was open to all AIMS Schools within Malaysia. To enter you had to be able to record your time in either 3km, 5km or 10km using technology such as a smart phone or watch.
Sadly the TISKL uptake was not as great as we would have liked but those who did performed very well. Our star athlete was Koo Zen Vinn from Year 8 who finished second in the U13 boys 5km (20m 52) but was Champion in the U13 boys 3km (11m 31 which was 52 seconds faster than second place). Unfortunately his teammate Hamza was pushed into 4th place in the 3km at the last minute but a good effort nonetheless (12m 46).
Well done boys, and Zen Vinn your trophy will be waiting for you at school on your return.
Bon Voyage
I would like to thank all the students and Team Thunder coaches for their time and effort over the past 8 years. The Thunder brand has continued to perform admirably in a wide range of sports and is now known as one of the strongest in the whole of Malaysia. This can only happen by working as a team. The trophies in Reception and Banners in the Sports Hall can often be perceived as the measure of our success and to some degree it certainly is great to see. However, when I see the number of students and teams in the Year Book, this is what has given me the greatest appreciation of our success in making sure everyone who wants to represent the school teams has had the opportunity to do so.
The past 16 months have not been great for anyone who loves competitive school sports. No training, games, CCA or tournaments has meant a lot of us missing out on a wide range of events which would have been our usual school week. For me personally, seeing the development and camaraderie of you all has been something I have missed and I’d never have thought that the KLSL Track meet back in March 2020 would have been my last school fixture.
I wish you all the best for the future wherever in the world you may be. For me my time at TISKL comes to an end as I head back closer to home and the British School of Bucharest. I do have plans of bringing some sports teams to KL so I’m sure we will meet again. Until then, take care of yourselves and good luck for 2022 when sport hopefully resumes.
