Dear parents and guardians
We have reached the last week of the term, where nearly everything returned to normal. It has been an increasingly busy term but speaking to students, staff and parents, it has been so good to have normal lessons, to have the return of sport and fixtures, and to have performances. Well done to everyone for responding to the challenges of this term and congratulations for the successes that we have seen.
Last week on Friday evening and Saturday morning, TIS Puchong presented “Everlasting”. This was a showcase of student talent from both TIS Puchong and TIS Kuala Lumpur. These tremendous performances reminded us of what we have been missing for the last two plus years. Schools are so much more than classrooms where content is taught to students. Schools are places where children develop and grow, learn to collaborate, socialise and interact with each other. What could be better than performances like this to bring people together?
My congratulations and thanks to the students for showing us what they can do, to the various teachers who helped behind the scenes, but in particular to Ms Rebecca from TISPC for having the idea in the first place and driving it forward in such a short period of time, and also Ms Belinda and Mr Radin from TIS Kuala Lumpur, for their support both artistically and technically. Finally I would like to thank the parents and students who came to watch. Performances wouldn’t mean as much without an audience. I hope that you will also be pleased to hear that the school raised RM15,452 for Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Heavenly, and Pusat Jagaan Mesra As Salam. As we come out of the pandemic it is really good that we can help support two children's charities who are in need. Well done everyone involved.
Primary Musical - This newsletter has been written just before the performances of the Primary Musical but I was fortunate to see the dress rehearsal today. In the same way as the “Everlasting” show above, it has been really good to see ALL of the Primary students at TISKL performing on stage. This opportunity is all the more important when we consider that there students have not had this opportunity since 2019 and at that time, half of the Primary school students had not even started school! All of the Primary students have now seen this show, and are looking forward to showing their talents to parents. My congratulations to Anne Marie and her team, and I look forward to the actual performances.
Cafeteria. This is advanced notice that from the start of term 3, some of the prices in the cafeteria will increase slightly. The main changes are with the meal sets, where the price is rising by RM1 from RM8.50 to RM9.50 for western, and Asian meals. This increase has been driven by the increased cost of raw food products, which is affecting all of us
Finally I would like to wish everyone a safe and peaceful school break. The next three weeks are an opportunity for staff and students to recharge their batteries before the new term starts on 22nd August. I have every confidence that term 3 will continue our direction towards normality, with more sport, performing and general school activities.
Stay safe.
