We made more steps with our Care.MVMT

21 October 2022

This busy term is continuing even with the end of the school year in sight.

This week we had Primary school trips to Melaka and Sunway Wildlife park. This is another big step back to normality. The students had a great time, and parents are getting accustomed to their children stepping out into real life more often after the pandemic.

This week we made more steps with our Care.MVMT. On Tuesday we went to a refugee school in Batu Caves to donate 30 laptops to the school. This school operated by Human Aid Society Selangor who does a fantastic job of keeping the learning going for nearly 100 refugee students from Myanmar and other asian countries. These laptops are end of life devices that TISKL has been using for many years, but there is still some life left in them. It was really good to interact with the students and teachers in the school. This is the first in a number of charity donations that both TIS campuses will be making over the coming weeks.

On Thursday, we had the cheque distribution event after our really successful Food and Games Carnival. TISKL raised in excess of RM36,000 for six charities and they came to school to express their thanks and to receive the money. The success of the Food and Games Carnival comes down to the work of the Student Council, the students, teachers and of course parents for their generosity

On behalf of the school I would like to wish our Indian community a very happy and peaceful Deepavali. This is always a bright and colourful time of year. Respect is a really large part of our RECIPE core values and of course Care.MVMT. This school is a mixture of ethnicities and religions and it is great to see students being exposed to the differences between us, that makes life more interesting.

The IGCSE exams are now in full swing, with our students working away in the School Hall. This is the culmination of their Primary and Secondary schooling and I wish them all the best in these exams. It is a very serious time of year for them.

And finally, I would like to wish everyone a peaceful long weekend, as school will restart on Wednesday 26th October.

Stay safe.
