I have attached some photographs here to show what to expect.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Today, schools have been closed for 93 days, but as Malaysia is easing the MCO, we have been communicating about the opening of the school for Year 11. I trust that as this easing happens, families are starting to see some light at the end of this challenging tunnel.

Parents should have received an email with details of how we will open the school for Year 11 next Wednesday. We have consciously sent this to all parents so that you can see what the current SoP looks like in the school.

We also had a visit from the MoE on Thursday, to audit our preparations and they left very impressed, saying that we were good to open on the 24th. They were pleased we had complied with the SoP that has been published and even taken extra measures.

I have attached some photographs to this newsletter to show how we have arranged things and to make people, especially Year 11 aware of what to expect.

At the entrance, we have separate lanes, which are socially distanced to check and record temperatures. Students should have a pen ready to write their temperature down on the list. This will reduce the sharing of pens.

We have set up a one way system for movement around the school. This means that staircases are designated as either UP or DOWN and are signposted. The main academic block stairs is for UP only, with the other staircases in the academic block being DOWN only.

Corridors have floor marking to guide students and staff. Everyone should observe the 1m social distancing (this matches the marks in the middle of the corridor). We will use both sets of doors for the classrooms, one for IN and one for OUT.

Classrooms now look like exam rooms, as they have a separation between desks. This does mean that some rooms can hold more students than others. This will mean that students will be using different classrooms to the pre MCO period.

The library will not be in use for books until further notice. This means that there will be no issuing of books or browsing for books. Any library books to be returned can be deposited in the box outside of the library doors.

Many parents will have seen news about Kindergartens starting on the 1st July. We have spoken to the MoE and are awaiting confirmation that this applies to schools and also for the SoP for Kindergartens, which we are told will be different to the current school SoP. We will advise parents when we have approval to start with other year groups.

Thank you

Peter Wells
