A very happy new year to you.
Let’s hope that the school campuses remain open.
As you have seen from my previous messages, we have been busy getting students back into school but keeping within the SoPs and keeping everyone safe. I know from emails we have received that there are parents at both ends of the spectrum, with some parents wanting a complete return to normality and some parents wanting schools to remain closed. We appreciate the different opinions of parents and understand that the current SoPs and practise can be frustrating for many parents. From the recent survey of parents, the majority want their children to come back into school.
We have written to the Ministry to seek permission to have more control over which students can be in school, within the current SoPs for classrooms. I will keep you up to date when we have more information.
Away from the pandemic, it has been fantastic to see students back in school and learning. The active noise from classrooms and in the playgrounds has been most rewarding and reminds us all about how important it is to have children in school. I have enjoyed walking around the school and meeting students and seeing learning happening. We have learnt in the last two years, just how important it is for humans to interact with each other.
With Chinese New Year approaching, the Performing Arts team have started their performances at local shopping malls. These performances are occurring within the SoPs for the school and shopping Malls and I encourage you to watch them either live or on the video that will be posted to our social media. The students have been fantastic, please monitor social media for their performances.
Finally please keep reminding your child(ren) about the importance of the SoPs; wearing masks all the time, washing hands and keeping a distance from others.
Stay safe
Peter
