Dear Parents / Guardians
As you will have heard on Wednesday from the Minister of Education, schools are allowed to open for exam years from 24th June. We are seeking some clarity around his announcement but much of the detail was published last Friday in the MoE standard operating procedures for opening schools.
TISKL will therefore open for Year 11 on 24th June.
The Minister also said that other year groups will be allowed into school in phases. We have no further details about this.
To give an overview of what will happen in the next two weeks.
1. We will soon publish an overview of how the school will operate with students. This has the health and safety of the students and staff as its priority.
a. Temperature checking, wearing masks and social distancing is the central core.
b. Classrooms will be adapted to meet the social distancing requirements
c. Hand sanitisers will be widely available in all rooms.
d. All rooms will be cleaned thoroughly each day.
e. We will have one way systems in school to reduce congestion.
f. Food will be pre ordered online, collected from the cafeteria and eaten in classrooms. Details for this will be sent to parents later.
g. The academic timetable will be the same as we are currently using in Term 2. The school day for Y11 will start at 9 am and finish at 4 pm.
h. There will be no CCA/ECA or gatherings of students.
2. We will publish a Google Form to parents asking whether they will be sending their child into school, when the MoE allows it under the operating procedures identified above.
3. We hope to publish videos to show parents and students what to expect when the school is open for students.
This does mean that for all the other year groups, online learning will continue until each year group is allowed back into the campus.
Please be patient for the above information to be published.
Stay safe
Peter Wells
