We enjoyed a wonderful sporting event at Stadium MPAJ on Friday 1st November. In the midst of the rainy season, we were extremely fortunate with the weather, although it did get very hot out in the sun for the field events. Students from Year 3 to Year 6 competed in Track and Field events: 800m, 600m, 200m, 100m and 60m races; shot putt, javelin, tennis ball and quoit throw; long jump and standing triple jump. Families cheered on from the grandstand and everything went according to plan. Huge thanks go to the PE department for all their efforts in putting on this major event, ably assisted by Year 10 students on the day. Congratulations to Yellow House on their victory with 2115 points, ahead of Red House on 2053 and Blue and Green Houses sharing equal third place with 1963 points.
Students were thrilled when teachers performed traditional dance styles in the school courtyard as part of our Deepavali celebrations. Back in the classroom, they enjoyed making diyas, which are salt dough candle holders, colouring rangoli designs and having henna designs painted on their hands. Some small snacks were later consumed, food always being a central part of any cultural celebration!
While Year 6 students were experiencing a taste of what’s to come in the secondary school (See the Secondary tab for details), the children from Early Years to Year 5 spent two hours in the next level of the primary school. Taking part in Kahoot quizzes, designing bookmarks, creating acrostic poems and a multitude of other activities, they had a great opportunity to meet their 2020 teachers. A big ‘thumbs up’ from our happy students.
